'When we moved to Keswick, Charlotte was recommended to us by several people. After learning more about her, we knew she was exactly the teacher we wanted for our daughter, Sophia - and we were more than willing to travel to make that happen. It has been one of the best decisions we've made. Charlotte has been incredibly supportive and inspiring, and Sophia's confidence and vocal ability have grown so much since starting lessons with her. Sophia was recently awarded Most Promising Young Singer (16+) at the Carlisle and District Music and Drama Festival, and we truly believe Charlotte played a huge part in that achievement. We feel very lucky that Charlotte agreed to teach Sophia."

"It's been some years since I took Grade 8 in Singing but, on turning 50, I made the decision to work towards a Diploma. Charlotte is a brilliant singing teacher and my monthly online lessons with her are so helpful and enjoyable. In our sessions, she advises on repertoire that will suit my voice and its capabilities, tailors exercises to develop the areas of singing technique I need to work on, and really helps me with phrasing, expression and interpretation. Charlotte also has an amazing ear for vowel and consonant sounds, making fine adjustments to improve my performance. Charlotte is giving me the advice, support and confidence to achieve my goal of taking a Diploma in Singing."

"Charlotte made me feel so much more confident and at ease with a song and my voice generally. Her sessions are so useful, and I would like to thank her very much for her help."

“I signed up for the weekly online singing lessons with Charlotte, not knowing quite what to expect, and having absolutely no singing ability or experience, but a hope that I might be able to at least sing along to songs at social events such as church services, Christmas carols etc and the confidence to sing along to songs with my boyfriend who likes to sing (albeit conventional pop songs - the Beatles in particular). I would normally avoid singing altogether and was not even able to hum or get noise out of my mouth. Charlotte has been so helpful, positive and encouraging and her experience and passion for teaching singing shines through. The classes consist of warm up voice exercises and then some practice songs that we initially break down into easy sections. If there’s any particular aspects that I have difficulty with, Charlotte provides useful tips and practices to improve. So it feels very much tailored to my individual voice. Charlotte has also provided voice exercises to practise at home as well as providing piano recordings of the songs I’m practising. My singing and voice range has improved leaps and bounds in about 6 months, so much so I may have the confidence to join a community choir in the future and I do now occasionally sing with my boyfriend if he asks, rather than blushing and just saying “no, I can’t sing”. The classes are online for 45 minutes, and as I work from home, I can easily fit these in during my lunch hour. Time commitment is therefore small, and I can practise as much as I want in my spare time. I have now found a new, enjoyable hobby and interest in music and singing - as well as more confidence, not just in singing but generally. If you want to learn to sing or improve, whether beginner or experienced, I can’t recommend Charlotte’s classes highly enough!”

“Lyris is a real highlight in my week, a time to get together with like minded women, learn from Charlotte’s expertise and make a wonderful sound together. Highly recommended!”
